So I'm done with Skyrim.
If I counted correctly, I poured nearly six real days worth of time into Skyrim, which is a lot even for me. I know I didn't see everything, as I had a few locations on my map that I never got around to visiting and I'm sure there are some out of the way spots that never attracted my notice at all.
But I got all the achievements finished, which is a rarity for me. So yay.
Overall, I remain very impressed with what Bethesda was able to accomplish with Skyrim. I have some gripes about the storyline, which I will save for a later post. The skill based system is vulnerable to some truly obscene power gaming, but that's par for the course with The Elder Scrolls. And it's not like anyone is forcing you to brew up those Enchanting +10000% potions.
I will say that I miss being able to craft a 5 piece set of clothes each with a +20% Chameleon effect and run around the entire game invisible to everything. But I can see how the developers might consider that a tad unbalancing.
So, with Skyrim complete and Mass Effect 3 not landing for another three weeks, I think I'll turn my attention to a game that I've had in my backlog for quite some time now - Final Fantasy XIII. Nothing like the release of a sequel to put something back on my radar.
Speaking of Mass Effect 3: have played the demo, am ready for more.
